Photo of two white Japanese “Betty” bomb bars are the two planes that flew from Japan to Ic Shima Island to board Gen MacArthur’s plane to be flown to MacArthurs headquarters Manila to discuss surrender procedures. MacArthur directed the Japanese to send three planes to be painted all white with green crosses. One of the three had to turn back because of engine failure.
